Night on the Bayo“Why don’t we give music back to the audience, instead of making music for musicians?” That is the question that started A Night On The Bayou. They started out trying to bring fun back into concerts, set up a gig at El Mundo in Aalborg, and then started practicing. It has always been head on and just go for it with A Night On The Bayou. A love for the feeling of New Orleans drives them! The party, the connection between band and audience, bringing a special vibe that everyone can relate to! That is their biggest inspiration! and mostly people who encapsulate that like: Jon Cleary, The Meters, The Wild Magnolias and also the danish Mo Hippa section.
From the first time walking through the streets of Jomfru Ane Gade playing “Mardi Gras in New Orleans”, they also knew they hit something special. From the first concert, everyone was dancing with each other, people who knew one another were dancing and singing with people who didn’t. With a growing amount of concerts under their belt, A Night On The Bayou sound is truly forming, setting themselves apart from other bands out there. With the use of both different genres like: latin, gospel, funk and second line as well as bringing in rappers and guest stars in the form of different horn players until now, they make sure that each concert is different with a red line going through all of them.
As an Aalborg based band it was quite a battle to be fought for something that wasn’t necessarily a genre that people knew, but they won people over! And that was an important victory, cause now they are in peoples minds! That’s what that music does, you remember it, you remember the feeling of letting loose and having fun. Having created an experience not to be missed is a great achievement, and A Night On The Bayous mission is now to ride the wave of that achievement! Their plan is to follow up this array of concerts with their debut album starting recording very soon!
